Become a Safe at Home Applicant Assistant
An applicant assistant is an employee of an organization/agency that provides counseling and other services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Potential applicant assistants must complete the self-guided training on the Applicant Assistant Portal and be re-certified annually to ensure they understand the program and can thoroughly explain the benefits and responsibilities to applicants.
If you are interested in becoming an Applicant Assistant, please email sos.safeathome@vermont.gov to be sent an invitation link to the portal. If you are already part of an Enrolled Organization, your Executive Director can send you an invitation link as well.
Organization Registration
- If your organization or agency is interested in becoming an Enrolling Organization that staffs Applicant Assistants, the director of the organization or agency should email sos.safeathome@vermont.gov in order to receive an invitation link to the portal. Upon acceptance, this will establish the organization as an entity that can enroll applicants into the program. It will also put the organization on the list of Enrolling Organizations for potential applicants of the Safe at Home program to contact.

- Applicant assistants are required, by law, to be re-certified annually. The program coordinator will send a notice to the director of the organization asking if the organization wants to continue to provide the service and which certified staff will continue to provide the service.
